When a busy airfield sits right next to a freshly restored wetland, you have a geometry problem. Wild flocks don't read runway signs, and jet engines don't slow down for nesting season.

Researchers near the Provo River Delta tackled it the methodical way: tracking local flock densities and flight patterns three times a week, building enough data to gently redirect wild populations toward safer, lower-altitude breeding grounds. The early numbers suggest it's working, which is a good reminder that nature will take an alternate route if you make the case clearly enough.

Before the Wild: Where Raptors Go to Earn Their Wings Back

Getting back to full fitness after an injury is hard for anyone, and raptors are no exception.

A new 120-foot coastal enclosure is giving recovering birds of prey somewhere to actually practice before they face the open sky again. Handlers can check lung capacity, assess aerobic fitness, and watch how a bird handles a high-speed turn before signing off on the release. The sky has no patience for a rusty performance, so this is where raptors can work that out first.
